Wonderful cabin and friendly neighbors

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been vacationing at Smith Lake for decades and always have good luck with Smith Lake Rentals. Andrea is very responsive and rental rates are competitive. Fawn Hideaway is a perfect cabin. I love the downstairs master, while other bedrooms are upstairs. My only complaint is travel time to boat launch site. There is a ramp located within the neighborhood, but it is very steep and I wouldn't recommend using that option. Also, bring extra wash cloths. There are plenty of towels, but unless you plan laundry every day, you will need extra cloths.Kitchen is fully stocked with excellent cookware and the grill was amazing.

Weekend stay

The listing was very accurate based on pictures and had a very true lake house feel. Only complaint is about the next-door neighbor's dog. The red brick house had a dog that came over to our rental property and barked aggressively and blocked my grandkids and daughter in law from walking up the path to the house from boat ramp. The owner eventually came out and got the dog. We only had the one-time problem.

You decide

The boathouse and water were wonderful! The house is dated but comfortable. We had issues with the tv/streaming and Wi-Fi. It was opening weekend of college football and we were unable to watch any games because of this. (Not good with house full of college football fanatics) We had some other minor issues with the house (master bath outlets did not work, TV in family room did not work). The weather was pretty rainy over the weekend we were there, but we still enjoyed the water between rain showers. When we notified the owner after check out, they said they went to the property and did not have any of the issues that we stated. I am conflicted on this review because I feel the owner is accusing us of lying. This is not the case - only stating our experience. One more thing, neighbor dogs would hangout on porch and at boathouse so if you have allergy or adversion to dogs-beware. They were not aggressive and we enjoyed them. Also, roads to the property are very poor. Basically dirt roads with tons of potholes. My son ended up with a flat tire.

Host response:

This is one of our more remote houses. It is wonderful water with no boat traffic. The roads are some of the worse in the county. As of 2022, they are working on them but not finished. The house uses satellite internet which is spotty. It did work when tested but was trying Netflix, not live games which can require more bandwidth. We are talking with the owner now about trying to get a better internet provider. This is a great house for a smaller family wanting to kayak, fish or just hang out in a large cove.

Could improve: Wifi, Outdated, TV

Great weekend with my family.

Great place to stay and plenty of beds. Everything you need for a peaceful weekend. It’s also in a no wake zone which is perfect for playing in the water.
